ANGLICARE POM BRANCH
Mt Hagen Office
Also opened in its doors in 2005, servicing approximately 30,000 people in Mt Hagen and over 3 million in the Highlands region. This area is predominantly a rural population and encompasses the Highlands Highway and mining companies.
The branch has more than 30 fulltime staff members not only situated at the Branch Office but by providing counselling staff to rural health clinics in Kundiawa, Bukapena and Tambul.
Anglicare does not charge clients for the services these are all provided free without discrimination or exclusion. Based on the belief that all people are entitled to receive treatment irrespective of their religious or financial standing, this is why Anglicare provides unbiased treatment.
Opened in 2005 for services in Oro Bay and Popondetta to a mainly rural population and also servicing the oil palm industry.
Rooms are currently rented within the Popondetta Anglican Diocese compound. These are cramped conditions and leave no room for storage of condom supplies.
Eighteen fulltime staff which were employed have now been decreased to a skeleton staff in the Anglicare Popondetta office.
As of 2013 the Popondetta Office will not be included in our Donor Funding received from AusAID due to it not being considered as a high HIV/AIDS prevalence area by AusAID. If we are unable to secure funding for the branch there will not be a way forward in this situation. But with the support from the Governor for Northern MP Garry Juffa, tides have changed for the Popondetta Anglicare Branch.
The Lae Office was originally commenced with the partnership of Lae City Mission as a way of incorporating the prevention, awareness programs and voluntary care counseling and testing to the youth accessing services through the Lae City Mission farm at Eleven Mile, Lae. This was the commencement of the working relationship and oversight of the Anglicare office by Lae City Mission.
